September.

September makes me nostalgic. Wistful. The changing of the months and the Labor Day holiday weekend have always marked the end of summer. And although my concept of "summer" has changed drastically through the years, there will always be something special and reverent about the season. Something that makes us so reluctant to let go.

When do you say goodbye to summer?

"Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone."
–Thomas Moore, The Last Rose of Summer, 1830

5 love notes:

  1. September is one of the hottest months of the year here--I finally start saying goodbye to summer in November. Ha!

    Can't wait for days below 90 degrees!

  2. I never say goodbye to summer here in Mexico haha.

    As a kid, I would always get excited about the first day of school and wearing new fall clothes :)

  3. There is something exciting about September (starting school, the temperatures cooling down, my birthday!) but it is very sad to see summer go. Summer means vacations to tropical places to me for some reason, although that isn't always the case. I just can't believe it's September already!

  4. I'm def dont with the 90 degree days too! I love the start of summer and the middle but cant stand the end of it when its just too hot to even go outside! I love the poem here though...very sweet. I think Oct is one of my fav months and Nov. April will always be my fav...our wedding month!

I thrive off your comments. They make my whole entire day. And I usually return the favor (hint, hint).
