On Friday, Fiance and I had a super cute and quaint date night...at the drive-in!
There's a drive-in theater in a town near where I went to college. Throughout undergrad, I always wanted to go, but the movie selection was usually pretty poor (i.e. I was not going to sit in a car and watch High School Musical 3, thankyouverymuch).
This time, though, the theater was offering a double-feature of two movies that sounded pretty decent: Grown Ups and Salt. So we packed up Fiance's car, bought some snacks and headed out the to drive-in, which is in the middle of a rural community and is surrounded by nothing but meadows and the starry night sky.
I haven't been to a drive-in since I was little—I forgot how much fun they are. And it couldn't have been a more perfect night to watch a movie out in the breezy summer air.
I wish more places like this one were still around. I adore the old-fashioned charm and the chance to get out of big, crowded multiplexes.
Is there a drive-in near you?

There is one semi-close to us, and I want to go, BADLY. Do you sit in your car? Or bring chairs? I remember we always sat on the hood or roof when we were kids and my parents stayed in the car.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! There once was two drive-ins close to where I live...now they're both gone. I need to look for one again -- they really are so much fun.
ReplyDeleteOoooh jealous!! Sounds very romantic and cool :)
ReplyDeleteI heard Grownups is great!
I've never been to a drive in. They sounds so fun!
ReplyDeleteThe original drive-in in my hometown is still in operation. When Mr. Dear and I were in the -not-yet-a-couple-but-not-just-friends phase we went almost every weekend!
